- Chris Mcloughlin - Inspired by the landscape Chris strives to
create exciting & evocative paintings which capture the imagination. His
radiant mesmerising paintings are characterised by bold brush marks, vibrant
colours, light & shadows. Sunrise & sunset are his favourite times of day.
He collects research through sketches, photographs and memories of being in
the landscape. Using oil paint as his primary medium he then works wet on
wet in order to capture the life & ambience of his subject.
- Duncan Ibbotson - Duncan has painted almost exclusively in
pastels for the last ten years inspired by the work and teaching of the late
Christopher Assheton-Stones. Using a number of techniques he is attracted to
the close contact between hand and surface in applying strong unmixed
pigment. The contemporary landscapes on display form part of Duncan’s
“Vibrant Pastels” series featuring strong designs and saturated colours.
- Janet Browne depicts local birds such as the Hen Harrier, the
Lapwing, Oyster Catchers & the Curlew in her distinctive style of
beautifully stitched textiles
- Simon Griffiths hand builds his ceramic birds with such skill &
detail he deftly captures the personality of each individual bird. We have
one of his compelling little owls perched on a short post, a flying lapwing,
a thrush, a couple of blackbirds & a small flock of adorable wrens.
We continue to feature textile bird images by Janet Browne
alongside ceramic birds by Simon Griffiths & hand carved wooden ones by Ken
Smith.

Chris is a contemporary oil painter with an expressive
romantic style which captures the atmosphere of our surrounding landscape. Join
us for a cup of tea and chat to Chris about his paintings. All welcome.
Garstang Arts & Music Festival will also be in full swing - 21st - 30th August.
